One of my favourite memories of Hastings, where my grandmother lived, was Bottle Alley. It was the lower promenade running from the pier to Warrior Square and was built in 1930.

It was called Bottle Alley because of the countless pieces of multi-coloured glass bottles embedded in the concrete panels along the entire length of the alley. It was built undercover as a walkway for the bad weather and had provision for glazed shutters.

The second memory is of Jim the Jolly Fish!! This was a motorised ride along the seafront. It was a lovely blue whale type fish.
